about

Let Me Go is out on the 11th of February; a brand new single to follow Pictures, resulting from lockdown writing sessions with fellow Welshie, Nate in Anglesey, North Wales. Punchy guitar riffs, gripping bvs and magically rhythmic melodies are held together by Mared’s unapologetically honest and soulful voice. This track evokes a growth in Mared’s musical identity, flourishing from her debut in 2020, drawing influences from the likes of Lianne La Havas, Emily King and Eloise. To coincide with the track, Mared is releasing a live video, filmed and recorded at a Working Men’s Club in North London. The narrative of this song explodes with a shameless confrontational tone, lyrically guiding us through a fierce conversation within a relationship that is trying to heal.

lyrics

Gimme a minute
you say you didn’t want time apart

Can I forgive it?
Am I just expected to try and start over

Curiosity gets the best of me
Surely you can see that there was

Something bout the way you told me
Thought that you’d forever hold me close but you let me go

So where do we go
breathing a past that’s still unresolved

So how will I know
That you won’t leave me with memories of confusion

Something bout the way you told me
Thought that you’d forever hold me close but you let me go

In our perfect world
We’d be sailing through this

But in my perfect world
Maybe we’d have never even met

In your perfect world
Would we have to talk about the things that you chose not to say

Something bout the way you told me
Thought that you’d forever hold me close but you let me go
